Last weekend Sheila and I were invited to a special evening event at our yoga studio to join in celebrating their five-year anniversary. Yoga by the Sea was founded by Lyne Lantaigne and Marney Coulter in 2006. Originally a one room yoga studio with one class a day, they have grown to two studios, two treatment rooms, and more than 15 instructors.
Today
they offer over 25 classes a week with a full range of practices to choose from — Yoga, Pilates, Mediation, Tai chi, QiGong, rebirthing, Kids classes, Zumba, African Dance, Massage treatments and workshops, and Counseling. There really is something for everyone on their Health and Wellness journey.
Yoga by the Sea also offers a very unique community reward program. If you travel to the studio, either by bike, foot, bus or car pooling, then you will receive sustainability bucks towards the purchase of your next 10-class pass — wow!!
In addition to the classes, they offer special weekend retreats, and this last week-end, they hosted a Saturday night mantra and call session with Wade Imre Morissette (twin brother of Alanis)
In May, one of the world’s leading yoga masters, Yogi Amrit Desai, will conduct an evening workshop. Amrit Desai is recognized as one of the pioneers of the authentic teachings of yoga in the West. This will be an intimate and very powerful experience and I’m really looking forward to the evening.
While researching a little more about Yogi Desai, I discovered his website where I was able to listen to a very restorative 20-minute breathing and awareness meditative sampler. If you want to listen follow this link.
We’re really happy to have Yoga by the Sea in our community and we were delighted to be included in their anniversary celebrations. If you’re staying with us at Coracle Cove, bring your yoga mat and we’ll set you up with a class.
